The Whycocomagh Eco-Centre encourages connections with nature through environmental programs and promotes awareness of the pristine environment of Cape Breton.

The Eco-Centre is located in Whycocomagh and overlooks the incredible shores of the Bras d’Or Lakes. These famous Lakes are a blend of salt and fresh water that have given rise to unique aquatic life.

Our aim is to provide opportunities for connecting to this beautiful part of the world, coming to know it through experience and education.

Our mission is to develop and provide experiences in nature that will create a connection to and an understanding of our relationship with the Earth community.

Our Summer Tourist Programs introduce tourists to beautiful Cape Breton while implanting them with knowledge about the need to protect this fragile environment. The Eco-Camps the Centre runs allows kids to have fun while learning valuable lessons about environmental protection.

The main focus of the Whycocomagh Eco-Centre is to facilitate and promote awareness, appreciation, knowledge and stewardship to nature. Our aim is to educate society about the value and importance of a healthy and sustainable world and to therefore respect and appreciate all the wonderful gifts our earth has to offer. We are not here to make people feel overwhelmed and frustrated about the numerous environmental issues and problems. We are here to make people feel empowered and educated on how to appreciate our world and how we can all do small things to help!
